Arc'Teryx Presents: Every Island Has A Name

lifestyle
Building off decades of experience in the mountains, Severin Van Der Meer, Elena Hight, and Jared Elston set out to make something that would stand out for more than just tricks. The result? A singular film that’s both a celebration of sport and art and an introspection on one’s experience in the mountains.

Lake Ontario | Week Of December 5, 2024

lifestyle
The week of December 5, 2024 was filled with lake effect storms that brought gusty winds and heavy snowfalls to the area. Waves were aplenty while resorts around the area fired up the snowguns to start the season. The 2024/2025 great lakes surf season kicked off with two storms back to back that brought heavy westerly winds to our area, making the surf in Rochester the best it's been in awhile.

An Interview with JG Shredeye by Nate Zoller

editorial
JG has spent the last few decades (literally) shaping snowboarding. When he’s not doing that, he’s surfing whenever and wherever he can. A few years back he had the idea to bring those two worlds even closer together - a snowsurf made with the same high-end materials that are utilized in today’s high-performance surfboards. Designed in Vermont and crafted in Ventura, CA, his Shredeye boards are as much surfboards as they are binding-less snowboards–the water beneath them is just a bit colder than your typical east coast break. With that in mind, we figured it was best for him to sit down with another seasoned surfer to answer a few basic questions. Neon Wave Team Rider Nate Zoller sits down with JG to take a deep dive into his slabs of foam and what makes them some of the funnest planks on the hill.

Introducing Grain Surfboards

editorial
Just up the road from York Beach is Grain's HQ - a full-scale board production facility, surf shop and classroom. Grain's mission in production and in concept is to design and build truly sustainable surfboards. Truly sustainable as in sourcing materials to shape from local softwoods, blowing the idea of foam right out of the water, no pun intended.

Whether they're a part of their daily wears, essential for a trip out on the boat, great for local waves, or built for a trip from the west to the east–they pulled some of their favorite pieces and wrote a little bit about what makes them the best.

Signs Of Wear w/ Mario

editorial
The idea of extending the life and application of our clothing has become more and more prevalent. Much to the credit of the makers, sewers, crafters, and textile workers who have carried on their traditions and foraged fresh ones of their own. Mario’s work, in tandem with the initial makers/designers, stands in opposition to the familiar push for more and more; purchase, wear, discard, repeat.
